HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas judge has found enough evidence to try a woman accused of spitting on an officer.

The Hutchinson News reported that a June 6 arraignment was  set this week for Sarah Welch to enter a plea to a charge of aggravated  battery on a law enforcement officer.

The charge  stems from a disturbance call in February. Hutchinson Police Sgt. Josh  Radloff testified that he was placing Welch in a police car when what  appeared to be blood-tinged saliva landed on his cheek.

Reno County prosecutors say Welch knew she was positive for  hepatitis C, a blood-borne disease that can lead to liver problems.

Welch’s attorney, Jesse Landes, says the spit wasn’t tested, so Radloff can’t say whether blood was in the saliva.
