HUTCHINSON, Kan. —  A non-injury accident involving a trash truck caused a widespread power outage in Hutchinson Wednesday morning.

Westar says about 1,900 customers lost service when a trash truck hit a power pole at 8th and Maple around 10:30 a.m. The outage knocked out service to a large area in the middle of the city, including Hutchinson Community College.

Most had power restored within about 90 minutes.
