USDA official to view Lincoln Elementary breakfast

Lincoln

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A top U.S. Department of Agriculture official is scheduled to visit Lincoln Elementary School in Hutchinson next Wednesday.

Audrey Rowe, the USDA’s administrator of Food and Nutrition Services, will be in Kansas for the Summer Food Service Meal summit held in Wichita on Monday Jan. 26.

Rowe is scheduled to visit Lincoln Elementary at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday to participate in the school’s breakfast. She’s interested in how the Agriculture Department’s Community Eligibility Program has worked in USD 308. The CEP allows schools that predominantly serve low-income children to offer free school meals to all students.

Rowe also has a strong interest in increasing breakfast participation across the nation.
