To celebrate Hutchinson High School’s Class 5A state football championship, there will be a community pep rally at 10:30 a-m, Friday at the Salthawk Activity Center, 800 East 13th.

The community is invited to the event that will include introductions of the players, managers and coaching staff as well as music and cheers. Additionally, there will be video from Saturday’s state championship game against Stilwell-Blue Valley.

Hutch High defeated Blue Valley 33-21 Saturday in the Class 5-A state championship game at Emporia. The Salthawks have won seven state football championships in the past eight years and hold the record for most consecutive Kansas state championships (six). This was the Salthawks’ eighth appearance in the state championship game in nine years.
