TOPEKA (AP) – Lawsuits challenging Kansas regulations for abortion providers are moving more slowly than originally anticipated.

Dr. Herbert Hodes and his daughter, Dr. Traci Nauser filed a federal lawsuit in late June to block regulations by the state health department. Hodes and Nauser perform abortions at their Overland Park office.

The department revised the rules last month, and the two doctors filed a new lawsuit in the state court system.

In both cases, judges have blocked enforcement of theregulations.

The judge handling the federal case wanted the parties to analyze the differences between the first and second set of regulations by the end of November but has since set a hearing for
Jan. 17.

The judge handling the state case plans to have a status conference next week.
