SIDNEY, Neb. – Cabela’s Incorporated plans to hire approximately 175 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees to staff the new Wichita, Kan., store, which is slated to open next spring.
The 80,000-square-foot store will be located in the Regency Lakes Shopping Center at 21st Street and Greenwich Road, and will be Cabela’s second retail store in Kansas, joining the Kansas City location. The store will showcase thousands of products, including hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor gear, as well as outdoor clothing, gifts and furnishings.
Interviews will begin Dec. 12 and continue through Dec. 16. Successful applicants will begin working in early February.
“The application process is open and we are in the process of scheduling interviews,” said Nathan Sukraw, general manager of the new store. “We are looking for outdoor enthusiasts with knowledge of hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor sports, as well as cashiers, sales specialists, people for our receiving department, essentially all departments.”

Sukraw said most of the management team is in place and they are ready to fill other positions. Most of the employees are expected to come from Wichita and the surrounding area. Typically, Cabela’s attracts applicants with detailed knowledge about the outdoors and an aptitude for customer service.
Sukraw, from Gothenburg, Neb., started his retail career with Cabela’s in 2000 as a part-time retail associate and worked his way up through several management levels. In 2008, he was promoted to general manager of Cabela’s store in Kearney, Neb. He was named Wichita general manager in June.
