County Jail Study committee met again Tuesday evening.

The Reno County Jail Committee did meet again Tuesday evening where they were brought up to date on where things stand with trying to get an agreement for land south of the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.

Commissioner Dan Deming explains that they have already met with corrections officials once which he says was a good discussion. Deming says they hope to have another meeting with corrections officials in the next few weeks.

Also, the committee looking into possible architectural firms for the jail proposal have six they’re looking at. They plan to meet on Wednesday to narrow it down to maybe three. They would then interview those three before making a decision on which one they would recommend the county hire.

Each member of the committee also got the report from the National Institute of Corrections on the assessment of the current jail and also recommendations.

The committee was asked to read the report so they can discuss it at the next meeting in two weeks.
