One of two men arrested Tuesday night after a chase with law enforcement faces numerous charges including battery and assault charges against law enforcement.

According to the arrest report, 23-year-old Jason Thiel of 113 East 9 th faces potential charges of two counts of aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of flee and elude, three counts of criminal damage to property, two counts of driving while suspended, interference with law enforcement, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, and an expired license plate.

According to police, a Hutchinson woman had reported her car stolen several days ago. Police then spotted the vehicle at 11 th & Plum around 8:15 p-m, Tuesday evening. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, Thiel allegedly drove off with police then in pursuit. They say they lost his vehicle around 11th & Cleveland, but spotted it again at 4th & Maple. The chase then started again until he allegedly drove into a parking lot, when police say he then rammed two police cruisers and attempted to run over an officer. He then left the parking lot, but eventually he and his passenger Bryson Allen jumped from the moving vehicle. The passenger managed to get away, but Thiel was arrested and taken to jail.

A short time later, Allen was located and taken to Promise Regional Medical Center after he claims he woke up in a field and knew nothing of what happened.

Thiel made a first appearance on the charges where there were actually two police reports over all of this. Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen set bonds for both 66-thousand, 650-dollars. He’s no stranger to law enforcement with previous convictions for aiding a felon, obstruction, and theft.

Allen was also booked into the Reno County Jail for interference with law enforcement, and possession of stolen property. He was also arrested for failing to appear in other court cases. His bonds set at 25-hundred.
