A 30-year-old South Hutchinson man accused in a child sex case is apparently still awaiting being sent to Larned for a mental evaluation. That’s what they learned in a status hearing for Jacob Ridley Friday morning. Apparently, some wires got crossed and he was never sent, so now Judge Trish Rose wants to make sure the evaluation is done.

Ridley is charged with rape, aggravated criminal sodomy, aggravated indecent liberties with a child, sexual exploitation of a child and aggravated incest. The charges are in association with inappropriate sexual relations with a family member, the child being 14-years or younger. The alleged crime occurring on April 30 of this year.

Some of the charges are off grid felonies under Jessica’s Law, meaning he could be looking at a life sentences if convicted of the charges.

He was picked up in Oklahoma on a Reno County warrant for the child sex case in May. He’s been in the Reno County Jail since his arrest.

With the mental exam still not close to being complete, the case is on hold pending what the evaluation shows.
