Escaped inmate from the Sedgwick County Jail turns himself in.

WICHITA – A work release escapee in Sedgwick County turned himself in after running from the work release facility on August 4.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday morning, Marquez A. Kelly arrived in the lobby of the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility in Wichita.

He was booked into the jail on the original conviction for battery, domestic violence, but was also booked on a warrant for a charge of escape from custody.

Kelly was a trustee at the Work Release Facility at 701 West Harry and was in the process of assisting detention deputies with serving the noon meal when the escape occurred.

With the new charge of escape from custody, Kelly is no longer eligible to be a trustee in either the detention facility or at work release in Sedgwick County.
