HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Another suspect in a case where a gun and other items were stolen was in court Tuesday morning for the reading of charges against him.

Just like his brother, Tristen Mendoza is charged with felony theft of a firearm, that being a .22 semi automatic pistol. He’s also charged with conspiracy to commit theft and misdemeanor theft.

In court, he asked for a bond reduction with his father asking as well. His dad told the court that, if released, he would be staying with him and getting away from his brother, Dylan Mendoza.

He does have some priors mainly as a juvenile according to Assistant District Attorney Andrew Davidson, but Magistrate Judge Randy McEwen granted the request and lowered the $5,000 bond to $1,000.

The state alleges that on or around Feb. 13, the group stole a gun from a home in the 200 block of West 13th. The two brothers are also alleged in the conspiracy with two other people in the stealing of the gun as well as other items, including a laptop computer.

Dylan Mendoza has another case where he’s charged by the state with stalking, aggravated intimidation of a witness and two counts of making a criminal threat in a domestic case. The alleged crimes occurred on Feb. 17 and 18. All of the crimes in this case were made against the same victim. He’s free on bond in both cases.
