HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Although we knew the name of the victim pretty much all day Tuesday, we waited to release that name until confirmed by the Reno County Sheriff’s Office. They have now released the name of that victim whose body was found near Nickerson on Monday. She has been identified as 38-year-old Mary Ann Arnett.
Sheriff Randy Henderson says her body was found Monday in a creek bed just south of Nickerson. Henderson says the family identified the woman based on her tattoos.
Sheriff Captain Steve Lutz says they have been conducting interviews in the case and there are still several more to be done in the next few days.
She’s believed to have been killed by 22-year-old Jonathan P. Wilson, who as we have been reporting, was shot by Hutchinson Police early Tuesday. He reportedly admitted to a person in a home on North Van Buren that he had murdered someone, leading to the confrontation with police and him being shot and killed.
Details of how Arnett died and her relationship with Wilson were not released.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting.
