On Friday, John Nurminen Events, in association with the Kansas Cosmosphere and UAU will open the exhibition, “NASA: A Human Adventure” at Casa de Campo in Madrid, Spain. The exhibition had its first opening in January 2011 at the Tekniska Museet in Stockholm, Sweden. Madrid is the second city for this exhibition, which will tour Europe for the next five years.
The exploration of space is explained through a number of evocative installations, from the first space rocket launches to modern exploration of space beyond our solar system. Over 400 original artifacts or replicas, including space capsules, engines, space suits, telescopes and satellites can be viewed throughout the exhibition. Several artifacts are on loan from the Cosmosphere, as well as two replicas produced by the Cosmosphere restoration division, Spaceworks. The producer of the exhibition, John Nurminen Group, reports that over 280,000 visitors viewed the exhibit while it was in Stockholm over the past ten months.
Dick Hollowell, Interim CEO and President, is representing the Cosmosphere at the Grand Opening of the exhibit. The Nurminen Group also requested that Cosmosphere staff members Meredith Miller, Collections Manager and Amanda Bailey, Collections Registrar be present to assist with the artifact installation. Many other dignitaries will attend, including Apollo 16 astronaut, Charlie Duke.

The Smithsonian-affiliated Cosmosphere houses the largest collection of space artifacts outside the Smithsonian’s National Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC. The internationally acclaimed Cosmosphere astronaut camps have been conducted for children and adults of all ages for more than 25 years.
