CHENEY LAKE – There were three people injured, two seriously after a jet ski and a boat collided on Cheney Reservoir. Two were transported to a Wichita hospital according to a
Dennis Zehr with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.
The jet ski apparently went over the boat, striking two that were sitting in the passenger seats of the boat. Two others sitting on the drivers side were not injured.
The operator of the Jet Ski was knocked unconscious but came to and initially declined to be transported to the hospital, but was later taken by private vehicle.
One person was also arrested for suspicion of the use of alcohol. He was taken to the Kingman County Jail.
They were all a part of the same group at the lake according to Zehr.
The collision occurring Sunday evening just after 8:30 p.m. in the Hobie Beach area, on the southwest side of the lake.
Details of what caused the jet ski to hit the boat is still under investigation.
Names of those involved have not been released.
