Roosevelt School sold recently from one church to another

If you haven’t heard, the old Roosevelt Elementary School that has been owned by a local church for a number of years has been sold.

It had been owned by River of Life Church since it was bought from USD 308 when they decided they no longer wanted to use the school, this at 1615 North Adams.

The building and property was auctioned by R.E.I.B. Real Estate and sold to the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle Church which is located at 1319 East 17th. The amount they will pay is 58-thousand dollars.

At one time, there was talk of turning the building and the adjacent land into apartments. Garrison Development wanted to convert part of the old school house building into apartments, while tearing down a portion of that building. They also wanted to build other apartments on the property where the playground area is. But, the developer couldn’t get the needed tax credits from the state for the project, so the church decided to sell the property.

The Apostolic Faith Tabernacle Church has yet to close on the property.
