LYONS – Rice County District Hospital will acquire Lyons Medical Center from the Hutchinson Clinic. The agreement calls for the hospital to take ownership Jan. 1.

The Lyons Medical Center will remain at the same location in Lyons. The building and practices are included in the agreement,.

Dr. Roger Tobias and physician assistant Dale Diener will continue to practice at the Lyons Medical Center, and patient records will be retained at the same site, and previously arranged appointments will remain as scheduled. Tobias has practiced medicine in Rice County for more than 29-years.

Hutchinson Clinic’s chief executive officer Michael Heck said a physician transfer opened the door to discussions with Rice County District Hospital about Lyons Medical Center’s future.

Heck thinks the arrangement will work well. He declined to comment on the financial details.
