HUTCHINSON, Kan. – A Reno County jury convicted a 36-year-old Hutchinson man Wednesday on two counts of felony battery of a law enforcement officer and one count of felony interference with law enforcement.

Police had responded to a call for a possible suicidal man in the 500 block of South Maple back on Feb. 15, 2014. It was just after 11 p.m. and, when officers arrived, they made contact with Darrell Williams and discovered he had a warrant through Municipal Court.

He apparently then resisted arrest and battered two officers in the process, forcing them to Tase him twice.

With the conviction, sentencing will be on Sept. 25 at 8:30 a.m. in front of Judge Trish Rose, according to Senior Assistant District Attorney Steve Maxwell who prosecuted the case.
