HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 31-year-old Wichita man accused in a methamphetamine distribution case here in Reno County was before Judge Tim Chambers Friday for pretrial hearing.

Michael Allen Guthrie is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to package a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with a prior conviction and no drug tax stamp.

He was one of four in a vehicle which was stopped by police at 4th & Lorraine back on Jan. 26, 2014.

Judge Chambers says he’ll set a trial as soon as possible and set a motion deadline for Sept. 30.

Guthrie remains jailed on a $75,000 bond and we learned that he also has a warrant out of Sedgwick County on charges of unlawful possession of opiates and battery of a law enforcement officer.

They had sent area media a mug shot and information on the outstanding warrant. We informed Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton of the Sedgwick County warrant and he told us he would notify authorities in Sedgwick County that he’s being held in the Reno County Correctional Facility for the Reno County case.
