HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 44-year-old Hutchinson man scheduled for a status hearing in two cases Friday is now facing charges in a third.

Richard Manion is now accused of identity theft, criminal use of a financial card and two counts of theft. The thefts have to do with stealing mail from three locations in the county, one of which included a Chase credit card. The card was sent to one of the victims and had not been activated. Then came reports that in four days, it had been used at 25 different locations in Hutchinson and McPherson, 19 of which occurred in Hutchinson, which totaled over $1,000. Video was obtained showing Manion and 35-year-old Aubrey Ramsey using the cards at various locations.

Plus, three motel rooms were rented with Manion using his own name and vehicle information. The signatures matched those of Ramsey. This all occurred in November and December.

They then learned that Manion was scheduled to be in court in Park City on Thursday. He was picked up on a Reno County warrant in that city and brought back to Hutchinson.

He also has drug charges for cases going back to Aug. 26 in one case and a second case from Feb. 18 when he was also arrested on drug charges along with Ramsey.

During a hearing in those matters in front of Judge Trish Rose, the case was delayed until they can determine if his attorney has some conflict.

He is now jailed on a $250,000 bond and he’ll be back in court on the new charges on Dec. 17.

Ramsey faces the same charges with the latest arrest. She also had a warrant for another case and her bond is set at $100,000. Her effort to get it lowered was denied. She’ll also be back in court on Dec. 17.
