TREGO COUNTY- One person died and another was injured in an accident just after 8a.m. on Tuesday in Trego County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1992 Cadillac driven by Lonnie Barnhart, 56, Dewey, OK., was northbound on U.S. 283.

The Cadillac went left of center and struck a 2002 Chevy Silverado driven by Edward Deges, 55, WaKeeney, head-on.

Barnhart was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Schmitt Funeral Home.

Deges was transported to Hays Medical Center. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
