A 29-year-old Hutchinson man who was arrested last week for possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell within a thousand feet of a school was bound over for trial Wednesday in an earlier case and also saw his bond in the case increased to 50-thousand dollars.

On top of that, the state decided to amend the complaint in that case against Joshua Bietka, by adding a charge of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Bietka was allegedly caught selling meth in October at a car wash across from K-Mart on East 30th.

A Reno County Sheriff’s Deputy recognized Bietka and recalled an active warrant for him. As he approached Bietka, another man fled the scene, while Bietka was told he was under arrest for active warrants.

The deputy then did a body search and alleges he found a sandwich bag containing 3.5 grams of ice meth in one of his pockets. Drug Unit Detective Shawn McClay testified Wednesday that they then found another bag of meth in a stall of the car wash, where the other man had fled. That bag reportedly weighed 1/8th – of an ounce. They then performed a search of the vehicle Bietka was in, and allege they found a scale with residue on it.

There was also a seach of an apartment where Bietka was staying and a memo with owe sheets was allegedly found.

The apartment allegedly belonged to Natasha Willm who has her own meth case going to preliminary hearing Thursday.

Bietka has been free on bond, but Deputy District Attorney Tom Stanton wanted the bond in the first case increased, and the judge granted the request, setting it at $50,000. Bietka was then taken to jail until he could post the new bond, which he has reportedly done.
