Rose Marie Shelton, 63, of Hutchinson, died Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Pleasant View Home, Inman. She was born October 11, 1954, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Clifford and Carol (Weaver) Ediger. 

Rose graduated from Hutchinson High School. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at Don’s Custom Floral, helped her husband, Jeff, at Shelton Motors, and taught aerobics at the YMCA. Rose was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ.

On October 11, 1990, she married Jeff Shelton in Hutchinson. He survives.  Other survivors include: sons, Lucas Bishop of Hutchinson, Justin Koeppen of Wichita; father, Clifford Ediger of Hutchinson; sister, Laura Ediger (Jack Mullen) of Hutchinson; brothers, Dennis Ediger (Rebecca) of Hutchinson, David Ediger of South Hutchinson; in-laws, Bob and Carolyn Shelton of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her mother, Carol.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Westside Baptist Church, 400 W 12th Ave., Hutchinson, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Cremation will follow. Friends may call from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at Elliott Mortuary.

Edward E. ‘Ed’ Thayer, age 80 years, passed away at the Hospice House of Reno County in Hutchinson, surrounded by family and friends on December 25, 2017. Ed was born on January 9, 1937, in Hutchinson, to Clarence and Helen (Breidenstein) Thayer. 

He was raised on the family farm and graduated from Arlington High School in 1954. Serving two years in Korea, Ed was active in the United States Army for eight years.

On April 12, 1963, Ed married Patricia Ann Tope of Arlington, where they resided on the family farm west of Arlington and raised their family.
Well known throughout the community as a loving husband and father, friend, farmer, mechanic, and active conservationist, Ed served on the Reno County FSA Board and at the Reno County Conservation Office, while remaining an active farmer throughout his life. Ed volunteered much of his time to the VA by transporting veterans to Wichita. He volunteered for the Senior Sheriff’s Patrol and the United Methodist Church of Arlington. Ed is remembered as a servant of the public and his community.

Ed is survived by: his wife, Pat of the home; daughters, Susan Brown and Tina Wohler; sons-in-law, Ken Brown and Jaret Wohler; six grandchildren Lauren, Morgan, McKenzie, Madison, Julia, and Zac; and great-grandchildren, Peyton and Isabel. All reside in the city of Sterling.
He was preceded in death by: son, Michael Edward; his parents; and a brother, C.T.

Graveside service will be 9:45 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, at the Arlington Cemetery. Memorial service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Arlington United Methodist Church, 117 S. Lincoln, Arlington, with Pastor Harry Cross officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.

Stella O. Siehndel, of Hutchinson, 100, died December 22, 2017, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born February 17, 1917, in Perth, KS, to Cornelius M. and Edith M. (Doramus) Wilson. Stella was a homemaker. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Perth, a 70-year Eastern Star member in Windom, and President of Friendly Neighbors in Little River. 

On November 2, 1937, she married Thurman A. Siehndel in El Dorado. He died February 22, 1984.

Stella is survived by: son, J. Richard Siehndel of Scott City; daughters, Kay Ward of Milton, FL, Connie Norton and husband Brad of Kearney, NE; daughter-in-law, Jalayn Siehndel of Topeka; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 12 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; six siblings; son, Ray D. Siehndel; and son-in-law, Mel Ward.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

John Charles Stauffer, 81, died Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born November 19, 1936, in rural Reno County, the son of Keith and Mary (Gleason) Stauffer. Charles attended Nickerson High School and worked as a farmer. He belonged to Mitchell Chapel United Methodist Church and the Kanza Promenade Square Dance Club.

On April 4, 1964, Charles married Freida May Strouse in Hutchinson. She died November 27, 2012.

He is survived by: sister, Mary Fern Woods of Gladstone, MO; brothers, Harold K. Stauffer (Beverly) of Hutchinson, Glenn Stauffer of Rawlings, WY, Ray Dean Stauffer (Phyllis) of Lenexa; and many nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Goetzinger officiating. Burial will follow in Bean Memorial Cemetery, Little River. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.  Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, Paws for Purple Hearts, or Mitchell Chapel, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
