SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The final concrete pours for Phase 1 of the Reno County Veterans’ Memorial were recently completed.
South Hutchinson City Administrator Matt Stiles is happy to report that the proceeds received during the Hutchinson Follies over the weekend should push the Memorial through Phase 2. “Who knew we had so much talent in the community?” Stiles said of the musical revue. He says the production was amazing and thanks everyone involved.
A Veteran’s Day Remembrance Lunch is scheduled on Veteran’s Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial site in South Hutchinson. The South Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce is hosting the event with a quick presentation at noon.
The Chamber hopes the event will showcase the progress of the Memorial that broke ground in May.

STAFFORD, Kan. — Size doesn’t matter at the Stafford Oktoberfest this Saturday. The wiener dogs have been waiting all year and they’re ready to strut their stuff. These little powerhouses give it all they’ve got with speed and strategy as they compete for cash and trophies. All proceeds from the silent auction and raffle before the races go to benefit the local “Training to Lead” program. You can enter you wiener dog at the event for $5. Registration and practice is from 11:30 to 1:30. Races start at 2 p.m. Stafford’s Oktoberfest … where the wieners hang out!
