18-year-old enters plea to attempted robbery over carton of smokes

An 18-year-old South Hutchinson man who reportedly got into an altercation with a clerk at a Kwik Shop in South Hutchinson and was charged with robbery entered a plea Wednesday to attempted robbery as part of plea agreement.

Kory Gall was charged after he allegedly carton of Marlboro’s from the Kwik Shop at 8 North Main in South Hutchinson. He apparently walked into a stock room, grabbed the smokes and began to leave. The altercation then began with Gall allegedly shoved the clerk about 2-3 feet as he was leaving.

The clerk then reported seeing the suspect running in the area of Alaskan Hotel. Police and Sheriff officers then found him in room 114, and he was arrested.

They did do a mental exam to determine his competency, and he was found to be competent, so he entered the no contest plea to the attempted robbery. That puts him in a less serve category, meaning he will most likely be placed on some form of probation. Sentencing is set for July 20.
