Two hospitalized after Harvey Co. rest area crash

NEWTON, Kan. — Two people were injured in an accident Wednesday in Harvey County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported 25-year old Amber Barber, of Haviland, was southbound on Interstate 135 just north of southeast 125th exiting at the rest area.

The driver lost control due to snow packed roads left the roadway and struck the rear of a semi parked in the rest area.

Barber and a passenger, 26-year-old Robert Barber, also of Haviland, were transported to a hospital in Wichita. The occupant of the semi from North Dakota was not injured.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. six miles south of Newton.
