Three adults, Three children hospitalized after three-vehicle accident in Hillsboro

HILLSBORO, Kan. —Six people were injured in an accident just before 8 a.m. yesterday in Marion County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a pickup driven by 19-year-old Samuel Charles Chambers, of La Cygne, was westbound on U.S. 56 and rear-ended an SUV driven by 37-year-old Virgilene Faith Weber, of Elmdale, who was waiting to make a left turn. An eastbound vehicle then struck the SUV. That vehicle was driven by 73-year-old Jean L. Winter, of Hillsboro.

Weber and passengers in the SUV 15-year-old Emma S. Box; 10-year-old Ava F. Box; and 2-year-old Wesley L. Weber, all of Elmdale were take to the hospital in Marion along with and Winter and a passenger in Winters car, 73-year-old Charlotte A Kennedy-Takahashi, of Hillsboro.

Chambers was not injured. All were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the the highway patrol.
