3 jailed on drug distribution charges

SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Three men were arrested Wednesday evening on drug distribution charges after a traffic stop on U.S. 50 near South Hutchinson

The three men are 22-year-old Bo Bailey Taylor, 20-year-old Matthew Allen Harrell and 25-year-old Kyle Russell Johnson.

A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper made the stop on the vehicle driven by Taylor for going 76 miles per hour in a 65 mile per hour zone. Once stopped, he could smell marijuana in the vehicle. Johnson produced a marijuana pipe from the passenger door. After a search of the vehicle, the trooper located a large black duffel bag in the trunk. It contained five vacuum sealed bags containing THC wax and high-grade marijuana in bud form. In a black and white bag with pink trim, they located another vacuum-sealed bag with THC wax and THC edibles and high-grade marijuana bud.

Total weight of the items found in this vehicle was around four pounds.

The three were jailed for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, no tax stamp and personal use drug paraphernalia.

In court, both Taylor and Johnson asked and received bond reductions to $8,000, while Harrell never asked for a reduction and his stayed at $13,400.

All three are scheduled to be back in court next week to see if the state has filed formal charges.

*THC is the abbreviation for tetrahydrocannabinol, which is the chemical compound in a cannabis plant or more commonly known as marijuana that allows a person using it to get high.
