As part of the planned construction for the new alignment of K-61 highway in northern Reno County, a section of 56th Street located between Tobacco Road and Halstead Street will be closed starting Wednesday, September 21st. This will be from approximately three quarters of a mile west of the existing K-61 highway.

This closure is required for the construction of the new K-61 interchange at 56th, all other sections of the street will be unaffected.

56th St., will remain closed at this location until mid-December, while the existing asphalt pavement is removed, earth work is completed, and concrete pavement with connections to the four interchange ramps is constructed underneath the new K-61 highway bridges.

Before 56th Street is closed for the interchange construction, temporary traffic signals will be installed at 43rd Street and the existing K-61. To complete this traffic signal work, 43rd Street will be closed for one day on the west side of K-61 on Monday September 19 starting around 9 a-m. The next day, 43rd on the east side of K-61 will be closed for one day starting around
9 a-m to complete the traffic signal work.
