The closure of 56th Street, between Halstead Street and Tobacco Road which was scheduled to occur on Wednesday was postponed due to a utility conflict, that according to Martin Miller with the Kansas Department of Transportation.
When the street will close now hasn’t been decided, but Miller says they will notify everyone as soon as a new date is established. The plan is to close the street so they can improve the road underneath the bridges on 56 th, and also connect the road to the on and off ramps from the new K-61.
They did get the lights at 43rd & K-61 installed with them blinking yellow for those traveling the current K-61, and red for those traveling east and west on 43rd.
