A Hutchinson man arrested in association with the stabbing and beating of Jeffrey Payne has now been charged in the case with attempted first degree murder.

Sean Arevalo had already been charged with aggravated burglary, conspiracy to commit aggravated battery, and interference with law enforcement, but was not charged with an attempted murder charge like the other four suspects.

He was able to post bond of 16-thousand, 500-dollars and showed up for a first appearance on the initial charges Tuesday. But, he was then charged with the attempted murder count, arrested and taken to jail Tuesday where his bond now matches the others at 250-thousand dollars.

Two other suspects in the case were arrested on Friday and made first appearances Monday where they were read the formal complaints against them. That being 19-year-old Desmond Cantu and 19-year-old Troy Bell.

Cantu, Bell, Joseph Leshore and Jordon Leshore all face charges of attempted first degree murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated burglary.

Police say the incident started at around 11:40 p-m, on February 18 when they allegedly forced open the door at 633 East 4th and once inside Payne was physically attacked and stabbed. He remains in critical, but stable condition at a Wichita hospital.
