Kansas State Fair Ready for 100th Celebration

The Kansas State Fair just rolled out a campaign to celebrate its 100th fair (in 2012) and official centennial anniversary (in 2013).

The centennial event’s fun-loving mascot sports a blue-ribbon tie and a vintage look that’s oddly modern and retro all at the same time. A ferris wheel adorned in colorful lights, carney game and shooting-gallery duck reflect the energy and thrill offered by the midway, and a starry night sky serves as a beckoning backdrop. The campaign tagline, “Never Gets Old,” speaks to the traditions and good times that bring fairgoers back year after year.

“We’re starting early to plan for this milestone,” says Denny Stoecklein, general manager, Kansas State Fair. “We’re looking for opportunities to reintroduce activities from the fair’s earliest days, while delivering new activities, acts and foods. This promises to be the wildest ride ever.”

The first official Kansas State Fair was held in 1913, making the 2012 event the 100th fair. The celebration will continue through the 2013 fair, the official 100th anniversary.
