PRATT, Kan. — Emergency officials were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident that occurred near Pratt on Monday evening.

The accident happened when a vehicle driven by 40-year-old Jason Smith, of Tipton, Okla., went left of center striking another vehicle. The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 54 on the west edge of Pratt.

Pratt County EMS and Rescue had to extricate 26-year-old Shannon Edwards-Smith and her passenger, 27-year-old Alexis George, both from Mexico, Mo.

Jason Smith was airlifted from the scene and transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita while Edwards-Smith and George were transported to the Pratt Regional Medical Center and were later transported by ambulance to Via-Cristi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. The accident is being investigated by the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m.
