Accident in the county Wednesday kills Yoder man.

YODER – The Reno County Sheriff’s Office has released some information on an accident that occurred in the county Wednesday evening.

Shortly before 9 p-m, deputies and Reno County E-M-S were dispatched to an 8th of a mile east of Yoder Rd on Red Rock to an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor. Both vehicles were eastbound with the tractor in front of the truck.

Sheriff officials say it appears that a 1970, Case tractor driven by 67-year-old Eli Borntrager, of Yoder was east bound on Red Rock Rd. 60-year-old Kenneth Westfahl, of Haven was also east bound on Red Rock Rd, driving a Ford F-250 pickup. Westfahl said that he saw a light on the back of the tractor but thought it was coming towards him and he ran into the rear of the tractor.

Borntrager was ejected from the tractor upon impact. He was initially transported by Haven E-M-S to Promise Regional Medical Center in critical condition, later transferred to a Wichita Hospital, where he died from his injuries early this morning.

Westfahl was taken to Promise Regional where he was treated for minor injuries.

District 8 Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene.
