Accident injures one in the county Friday Afternoon

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — One person was taken to a Wichita hospital after a two-vehicle accident in the county Friday night.

According to the Reno County Sheriff’s Office, they were dispatched to the 6900 block of Dean Rd., where a BMW driven by Bodie Eugene McKee of Hutchinson was traveling east on 69th Avenue when he failed to yield at the intersection and collided with a Ford F-350 traveling north driven by Donald Eugene Pearce of Sterling. McKee’s vehicle was struck in the passenger side and both vehicles came to rest in the northeast corner of the intersection.

There was a passenger in the Ford F-350, Felex Jay Pearce of Sterling. Everyone in the pickup was wearing their seatbelts and reported no injuries.

McKee was airlifted to Via-Christi St Francis Regional Medical Center with head injuries. McKee was not wearing his seat belt.

The accident is still under investigation. Alcohol may have been involved.
