Two Chase residents were injured in a two vehicle accident near Nickerson Saturday evening. According to the Reno County Sheriffs office, Shannon Brady was going south on K-14 when he swerved to miss a deer and hit an SUV driven by Parthena Schultz of Ellsworth. The vehicle left the roadway to the  west and barely missed a tree before landing on the railroad tracks upside down.

Brady and his passenger, Jacob Ford were sitting beside the car when EMS and deputy’s arrived. The SUV continued on until they discovered damage to their truck in Nickerson, and turned back to the scene of the accident. Apparently they didn’t know they had hit another vehicle.

Brady was tested and arrested for Aggravated Battery, DUI – Drugs; Possession  of potpourri, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and ITOL. He admitted that he was trying to light a pipe with drugs in it when the accident happened.

Ford was transported to  the Hutchinson Regional Medical center with unknown injuries. The accident happened around 6:45 near K-14 and West 56th.
