YODER – A 25-year-old Wichita woman was taken to a Wichita hospital after a one vehicle crash near Yoder in Reno County.

According to Reno County Sheriff Captain Wayne Baughman, just after 7:30 a-m, Saturday morning, sheriff deputies, Haven E-M-S and Reno County District 8 fireman were dispatched to the crash on Red Rock Rd., east of Halstead.

When the first fire units arrived, they reported that they had one patient that was partially ejected and unresponsive.

Baughman says, “what we know at this point is that a 2005 Ford Mustang driven by Kelly Taylor of Wichita was on her way to work in Hutchinson traveling west bound when for some unknown reason she turned around and was headed east on K-96.” He says she approached the Red Rock Rd overpass, but drove off the right side of the roadway, went down the embankment, through a drainage ditch, came out out of the north ditch of Red Rock Road, crossing the roadway going into the south ditch, then glanced off the east pillar of the east bound K-96 overpass. The vehicle then continued up that embankment and came to a stop under the west bound K-96 overpass and then slid sideways down that embankment and stopped after sliding down and stopping between two pillars for that bridge and actually hitting the far west pillar with the rear of the vehicle.

Emergency officials found Taylor partially out of the drivers side door and unresponsive.

Midwest Lifeteam helicopter was called to the scene and flew Taylor to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Taylor said later that the last she knew she was west bound heading to work, and was wearing her seatbelt.

She is now listed in fair condition.
