HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Reno County Sheriff Officers and other emergency personnel responded late Friday morning to the intersection of U.S. 50 and Mohawk Road for an injury accident in the west bound intersection.

Twenty-five-year-old Ashlea Hand of Plevna was westbound on 50 highway with her three children. As she approached the intersection, a semi driven by 78-year-old Douglas Hoskinson of Hutchinson entered the intersection from the south off of Mohawk Road. Hand attempted to avoid the semi by shifting from the outside lane to the inside lane, but was unable to avoid the trailer attached to the semi and struck the rear wheels.

Reno County EMS responded to the scene and took Hand and the children to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.
