A City of Hutchinson worker was taken to a Wichita hospital after a two vehicle accident at 43rd & Lorraine just before 2 p-m, Monday afternoon.

According to Reno County Sheriff officials, a city of Hutchinson truck, with a pole trailer, and electric pole, driven by 54-year-old Charles Wooten was westbound on 43rd. He had stopped at the stop sign at that location, but apparently didn’t see a Ford, F-150, driven by 63-year-old Joe Christ coming from the north on Lorraine. Wooten start across the intersection and the Christ vehicle struck the city truck broadside.

Wooten was wearing a seat belt, and was not hurt.

It’s not known if Christ was wearing a seat belt, but the airbags did deploy. He was taken by Reno County EMS to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center where he was then transferred to a medical helicopter and flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was listed as critical when he left the crash scene.

The Reno County Accident Investigations team was called to the scene to investigate the crash.
