TOPEKA – Samples taken by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment have concluded that hazardous conditions at the lakes at the Dillon Nature Center for a public health advisory can be lifted.

“Our testing showed that there are no high areas of concern at the moment,” explained Tom Langer, Director for the Bureau of Environmental Health. “That said, if you see any green material floating in the water, you, and especially your pets, should avoid it.” the advisory was for blue-green algae.

Other lakes in the area were also taken off the advisory. That includes Milford Lake in Clay, Geary and Dickinson Counties, Harvey County Camp Hawk Lake and Santa Fe Lake in Augusta.

Three others are still under warnings, which includes Memorial Park Lake, in Great Bend and
Harvey County West Lake.

Others are also still under advisories, including Augusta City Lake, which was downgraded from a warning to an advisory, and Harvey County East Lake.
