The hearing for a 22-year-old Hutchinson man who ran against Jan Pauls for her legislative seat has been pushed back to May 1, that according to Judge Joe McCarville.

Dakota Bass was arrested in the 200 block of East 10th, after he allegedly threatened 36-year-old Richard Steckly with the handgun around 5:20 p-m, on January 20. He’s charged with a single count of aggravated assault.

You may recall that Bass ran against Pauls as a liberal Republican back in November of 2012, but lost to her in the general election by a nearly 66% to 34% margin. Pauls is a conservative Democrat who has angered some over her opposition to gays.

Again, the preliminary hearing has been pushed back to May 1.
