HUTCHINSON, Kan. — On March 23, 2017, detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Reno County Sheriff’s Office asking for assistance in a case.

An Arlington man arrested this week by detectives with the Los Angeles and Reno County Sheriff’s Offices waived his right to fight extradition Thursday.

Thirty-one-year-old Kenneth Coulter of Arlington faces charges of having contact with a minor for a sexual offense, distributing or showing child or youth pornography to a minor, extortion and a lewd act upon a child.

The case began with a joint investigation where it was discovered a 14 year old from California had met an individual from Kansas on a social media app named “kik.” The investigation revealed unlawful images and videos had been exchanged during their conversations on “kik” and other social media apps.

Coulter told a judge Thursday morning that he might as well go to California because he has lost his job here in Kansas.

Detectives served a search warrant at his home in Arlington and say the investigation is ongoing.
