Hutchinson Police continue their investigation into the attempted theft of an ATM machine from a local credit union.
Police got a call from the 23rd and Severance branch of the Hutchinson Credit Union around 5 a-m Tuesday morning saying that someone tried to remove the ATM machine by pulling it out of the foyer with a vehicle and chain.
The attempt failed when the chain broke as the ATM machine was heading out the door. Police were on the scene in less than ten minutes but the thief was already gone. There was damage to one glass door and floor of the foyer where the ATM was anchored.
