HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Another of the suspects in the beating and stabbing of a Hutchinson man is scheduled to go to trial in the next few weeks and Joseph LeShore’s attorney was in court Friday asking the judge to grant getting transcripts of the other proceedings.

Attorney Shannon Crane says she needs the transcripts to properly defend her client, but District Attorney Keith Schroeder believes it might be to late for her to request these items. Crane explained that she had been ill for sometime and is now trying to get things ready for trial.

Judge Chambers set a special hearing for May 28, to consider this item saying his court secretary is working on transcripts in the other cases right now for the appeals of the defendants.

You may recall us telling you that LeShore has been awaiting sentencing after he entered a plea to an amended charge of attempted 2nd degree murder, as well as aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and aggravated battery. He at that time admitted in court his involvement in the beating and stabbing of Jeffrey Payne.

But, now he contended that he felt coerced into entering the plea by his then attorney Alice Osburn. Judge chambers allowed him to withdraw his plea and now faces trial for the original charge of attempted 1st degree murder as well as the other charges.

LeShore is suspected of being the key player for the attack on Payne back on February 18, 2013, when these men allegedly broke into his home and physically attacked and stabbed him numerous times in the leg and torso.

The trial is expected to begin in early June, however that could change.
