HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Veterans’ Tribute Concert & Benefit is coming to the Cosmosphere next Saturday night. Included in the auction will be the Stars & Stripes guitar sponsored by Eagle Communications.

In all, five custom-designed guitars from Chris Mitchell Guitars will be auctioned off with all proceeds supporting the Veterans’ Memorial coming to South Hutchinson. The Stars & Stripes guitar represents America, while the other four represent a different branch of our armed forces.

During the Downtown Soup and Chili Festival, the very first Decorate-A-Chair Affair also happened at the Sleep Shoppe and Furniture Gallery. Krystal Keefer-Zeferjahn took her chair and made it into the winning “All Hallow’s Chair.” She won a $500 Shopping Spree to the Sleep Shoppe and Furniture Gallery at 11 N. Main in downtown Hutchinson.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Pink Out Night on Tuesday at the Salthawk Activity Center raised nearly $2,800 for the Cancer Council of Reno County.

Midwest Ford and Toyota Superstore of Hutchinson teamed up with Eagle Communications to put on the event for Hutch High volleyball on Senior Night. The Salthawks fell to 21-16 on the season after a 3-1 decision against Salina South.

Despite the loss on the court, the true victory was seen in the lives touched by cancer and the measures being taken to make a positive impact on the community.

Midwest Ford and Toyota will sell the remaining shirts on Saturday at the Boo at the Zoo. Any shirts left over after Saturday will be sold at the next Hutch High football game against Wichita Northwest on Halloween night.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Buy a wrist band for $5 and taste as much soup and chili you can up and down Main Street between Smith’s Market near Avenue B up to Wade Patton Insurance at 6th Street. There are 47 entries this year, so you won’t go hungry. There are also eight different bands scheduled to play along Main Street for your entertainment along the way! When you’re done tasting, vote for your favorite. Wrist band/voting booths will be located on each block.

During the Downtown Soup and Chili Festival, Eagle Communications will be located in front of the Sleep Shoppe & Furniture Gallery asking everyone who comes by to vote for their favorite decorated chair in our “Decorate-A-Chair Affair”!  (In the past, we have hosted the Ugly Couch Contest, but this year we decided to let people with creativity have a chance to win the prize.) The winner will be selected by popular vote and will win a $500 shopping spree from the Sleep Shoppe & Furniture Gallery! Plus, we will provide a cookie and a bottle of water for the first 750 people stopping by … because who doesn’t need a sweet treat with all that chili and soup, right?
