HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Pandemonium has officially arrived in Kansas City. Twenty nine years ago, a 21 year old pitched a Game 7 shutout for the Royals on his way to being named World Series MVP. Even at a young age, Bret Saberhagen was able to lead the charge for a Kansas City team that included legendary names like George Brett and Frank White.
Since 1985, the Kansas City Royals have missed out on the playoffs, berth after berth.
Saberhagen returned to Kansas City, not as a player, but as witness to not only the first playoff berth in 29 years, but also four straight victories that took the Royals from Wild Card hopeful to A.L.C.S. contender.
Join Glen Grunwald of KWBW (1450 AM/ 98.5 FM) on Friday morning at 7:15 as he explores the similarities between the Royals of ’85 and the Royals of now with 3-time All-Star and 2-time A.L. Cy Young Award winner Bret Saberhagen.
