Nancy A. Fitzgerald, 85, died February 2, 2018, at Good Samaritan Center in Hutchinson. She was born September 17, 1932, in Wichita, the daughter of Edmond A. and Nellie M. (Nelson) Kibbe.

She was a 1950 graduate of Wichita North High School, a 1954 graduate of Manhattan Bible College and received her second college degree in 1960 from Northwestern University, Alva, Oklahoma.

On June 19, 1953, she married Charles Fitzgerald. He preceded her in death.
Nancy was a teacher, homemaker and a minister’s wife.

She is survived by: daughters, Sheila Kaegi and husband Mike of South Hutchinson, Kelly Moss of Wichita and Shannon Fitzgerald of Hutchinson; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters, Mildred Cloon and Marilyn Calkins.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Crossroads Christian Church, 43rd and Monroe Street, with Pastor Lee Keele officiating. Burial will be 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Evergreen Cemetery in Effingham, Kansas.
Friends may sign the book Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

Gabriel Matthew Marshall, age 9 years, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born June 4, 2008, in Hutchinson, to Joshua J. and Bethany (Shultz) Marshall.

Gabriel was a 4th grade student at Avenue A Grade School, where he loved to play soccer with his friends during recess. He also enjoyed his nerf guns and playing nerf wars with his family and friends. Gabriel, known as ‘Super G’, was Hutchinson’s small town ‘Smallville’ super hero. Throughout his adversity, Gabriel never complained about his illness and lived life to its fullest. He always looked out for his little sister, Makinzley. Gabriel impacted everyone he met and his memory will live on in every individual whose life he touched. He was a member of Park Place Christian Church.

Gabriel is survived by: parents, Bethany and Josh; sister, Makinzley Angelita Marshall, all of Hutchinson; dog and best friend, Louie; maternal grandparents, Cynthia Shultz, Randy Shultz and wife Lynn; paternal grandparents, Mary Angelita Marshall and partner, Francisco Ramos, Richard Marshall, Sr. and wife Dee; great-grandma, Carole Shultz; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by: his uncle, Shon D. Garcia; great-grandma, Yolanda Solis; great-grandpa, Delbert Shultz; and great-uncle, Bill Marshall.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Park Place Christian Church, 2600 N. Adams, Hutchinson, with Pastors David Dubovich and Amy Foster officiating. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.

Connie Jean ‘Grandma Connie’ Smith, died Friday, February 2, 2018, at Newton Medical Center. She was born September 26, 1948, the daughter of Alva Howard and Marjorie Irene (George) Giles.

She attended Haven High School and was a member of Faith Community Bible Church, Burrton.

On September 20, 2009, she married Jay P. Froese. He survives. Other survivors include: sons, Chris Smith and wife Allison of El Dorado, Charles Smith and wife Angela, Jason Froese and wife Samantha, and Matthew Froese, all of Burrton; sister, Carolina Lange of Calhone, MO; 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 14 siblings.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Travis Heneha presiding. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.

T. Lee Brubaker, 77, died Thursday, February 1, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. He was born May 11, 1940, in Hutchinson, the son of Floyd John and Elizabeth Jean (Skellenger) Brubaker.

Lee was a 1958 graduate of Harper High School. He had attended Park Place Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church and belonged to the Buhler Jaycees. Lee served in the Kansas Army National Guard. He owned and operated Lee’s Texaco. Lee had worked for Clay and Reno Townships, retiring from Reno Township as foreman. Fishing, auto racing and motorcycling were his favorite hobbies.

On September 11, 1964, he married Shirley Mae Barkman in Hutchinson. She died February 18, 2007. Survivors include: their children and spouses, Kimberly Shull and husband Kevin of Buhler, Brian and wife Jennifer of Hutchinson; sister, Jean Winchell and husband Gary of Kiowa; brother, David and wife Goldie of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Kenneth; and sister, Judy Silcott.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Darrel Grubbs presiding. Burial with military honors will be conducted by Kansas Army National Guard at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.

Darlene A. Detwiler, 85, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center on the Via Christi St. Francis Campus, Wichita. She was born January 6, 1933, in Smith County, Kansas, to Allen and Hilma (Drotts) Detwiler.

Darlene graduated from Smith Center High School. She received her nursing degree, and for 10 years Darlene worked as a missionary nurse in Kenya, Africa. She then worked as a registered nurse at the Swedish Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. After retirement, Darlene bought a motor coach, which allowed her to travel and resume her missionary work as a SOWER (Servants On Wheels Ever Ready). Darlene loved her family and always kept in touch with them. She was a member of the Church of God in Anderson, Indiana.

Darlene is survived by: brothers, Dick Detwiler of Eureka, Loren Detwiler of Mesa, Arizona; sisters, Maxine Powell of Hutchinson, Carol Overmiller of Smith Center; 16 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dale Detwiler.

Cremation has taken place. Per Darlene’s wishes, there will be no services. Memorials may be made to Brookdale of Hutchinson, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
