INMAN, Kan. — Shirley Ruth Allen, 92, died August 7, 2017, at her home in Inman. She was born in rural Pratt County.

Shirley was a farm wife and stay at home mother.

She married Robert E. Allen in Wichita.  Shirley is survived by daughter, Crystal of Inman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents and siblings, Jim, Georgia, Pauline, and Martha.

Cremation has taken place.  Per Shirley’s wishes there will be no services.

NICKERSON, Kan. — Michelle Jean ‘Shelley’ Scott, 51, died Monday, August 7, 2017, at her home in rural Nickerson. She was born August 10, 1965, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Clarence E. and Delores J. (Lovett) Carey.

Shelley attended Nickerson High School and worked as a Veterinarian’s Assistant at Westside Veterinary Clinic and operated her own pet grooming business. She loved being outdoors and camping, as well as her dogs. But most of all, Shelley loved her grandchildren. She was a member of South Hutchinson Christian Church.

On December 27, 1983, Shelly married Larry Scott in Hutchinson. He survives.  Other survivors include: daughter, Lacey Ford and husband Brandon of Hutchinson; son, Levi Scott of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Lillian Holeman, Lyndzi Scott, Brindlee Coon, Khalia Scott, Kaedon Scott; sister, Cynthia Carey of Hutchinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by: her parents; granddaughter, Autymn Givens-Scott; and brothers, Keith Carey and Dennis Carey.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Elliott Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family present to receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Helen L. Darling, 91, of Hutchinson, died Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Hospice House, Hutchinson.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Hutchinson.  Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 with the family present to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Robert D. ‘Bob’ Harris, 75, of Hutchinson, died Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born October 27, 1941, in Denison, TX, the son of Lester C. and Mildred E. (Alexander) Harris.

Bob attended Wichita West High School and retired as Director of Data Processing for Dillons Stores. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, Hutchinson.

On November 11, 1958, Bob married Vera Rodriguez in Wichita. They later divorced. On September 7, 1979, he married Kathleen Gardner, in Wichita. She survives.  Other survivors include: son, Scott Harris (Ruth) of Arvada, CO; daughters, Dana McGoveran (Craig Shotwell) of Arvada, CO, Karen Gromelski (Dominic) of Lemoore, CA, Danielle Huhs (Ben) of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Mike McGoveran (Anna), Nick McGoveran (Candace), Shawn McGoveran (Julie), Alex Gromelski, Alyssia Gromelski, Ronald Seyfer, Bailey Huhs, Jacob Huhs; four great-grandchildren; and many other family members.  He was preceded in death by: his parents; grandson, Russell Seyfer; and brother, Don Harris.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at First Church of the Nazarene, 4290 N. Monroe, Hutchinson, with Pastors Kent Pedersen and Bones Nay officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Sandra Faye Lee ‘Sonnie’ Watkins, 74, died August 1, 2017, in Hutchinson. She was born January 13, 1943, to Roy Lee and Ruby Lee (Callahan) Gilley.

Sonnie graduated from Hutchinson High School and Salt City Business College. She was a member of Women of the Moose Hutchinson Chapter 1371 and Order of Eastern Star. Sonnie was an avid Bingo player. She worked as a longtime employee of K-Mart and then Target.

On January 23, 1962, she married Edward L. ‘Ed’ Watkins in South Hutchinson.  Sonnie is survived by: husband, Ed Watkins; daughter, Darla Watkins, both of Pretty Prairie; sons, Roy Watkins of Wichita, Terry Watkins and wife Jacki of Murdock; grandchildren, Aaron Watkins, Amanda Pogue, Jeremy Pogue all of Wichita; sisters, Sherry Smith of South Hutchinson and Bonnie Beattie of Coeur d’Alene, ID; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by: hers parents; sister, Cerita Knapp; and brothers-in-law, Richard Knapp and Tom Beattie.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Montie McFerrin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Elliot Mortuary.

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Jacquelyn Lee Williamson, 78, of Hutchinson, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born February 25, 1939, in Crosby, Minnesota, to Frederick E. and Nancy (Lee) Ripley.

Jacquelyn graduated from Hoisington High School. She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, gardening, and singing old songs. Jacquelyn was a homemaker and of the Lutheran faith.

On July 14, 1957, she married John Williamson in Topeka. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.  Survivors include: husband, John of Hutchinson; children, Daniel (Tanis) of Smyrna, Georgia, Deborah Baughman (Bryan Knox) of Partridge; grandchildren, Thomas, Joshua, Adam, Mark, Megan, Troy, and Debi; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Friends may sign the book from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at Elliott Chapel.
