HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Robert E. ‘Bob’ Norris, 80, of Hutchinson, died August 11, 2017, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born October 5, 1936, in Stafford to Erle A. and Mary Ellen (Beck) Norris. Bob graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954 and Emporia State University in 1960. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1954-1957. Bob was a retired Prudential agent.

On June 10, 1962, he married Carol Mallory in Hutchinson. They shared 55 years of marriage.

Bob is survived by: wife, Carol of the home; son, Greg Norris and wife Angie of Wichita Falls, TX; daughter, Jennifer Boldt and husband Michael of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Evan Norris of Phoenix, AZ, Justin Norris, Mallory Norris, both of Wichita Falls, TX, Katlyn Boldt of Santa Clarita, CA, Grant Boldt of Hutchinson; and sister, Elsie Dragoo and husband Dennis of Emporia.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2017, at First Church of the Nazarene, 43rd and Monroe, Hutchinson, with Reverend John Chastain and Dr. Mark Glover officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the United States Marine Corps. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. ARLINGTON, Kan. — Russell Eugene ‘Russ’ Day, 70, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born January 6, 1947, in Hutchinson, the son of Gene and Edith (Mitchell) Day. Russ grew up on a farm at Langdon, where he learned to love farming, dairy cattle and other farm animals. He attended Langdon Grade School and graduated from Fairfield High School in 1965, where he played football and basketball. Russ attended Kansas State University.

He was active in 4-H growing up, where he raised dairy cattle and sheep as projects, and participated in leadership activities and dairy judging contests. Russ was a member of the Reno County Dairy Judging Team that represented Kansas in the National Judging contest in Iowa, and later coached for the County 4-H judging team, which also went to the national contest.

On August 23, 1968, he married Elizabeth Ann Frank in McPherson. They shared nearly 49 years of marriage.

Russ helped his parents farm and later farmed for a few years himself, and then worked for Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company for nearly 40 years.
He moved to Arlington a few years before retirement and served on the City Council, was active in civic activities, and served as Santa at the Christmas Celebration.

Russ was a member of DDR, a unique organization devoted to the preservation of America’s great western heritage.
The family, friends, community, and others will greatly miss his helping hand.

Russ is survived by: his wife, Ann, of the home; daughters, Brenda Milner of Kansas City, MO, and Robin Fitzgerald of Ocean Springs, MS; grandchildren, James Lee Rue Jr., Ryan Oxley, Amanda Oxley, Leah Milner, Trevor Milner; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Peggy Wiard of Arlington; sister-in-law, Nicki Saunders of Partridge; uncle, Kenneth Day; and numerous cousins and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Peter Eugene.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Keith Dellenbach officiating. Burial will follow in Abbyville Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present to receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary. Russ was most comfortable in overalls, so if you have them, please feel free to wear them to his service as an honor to him. SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Theresa Marie Ediger, 85, of South Hutchinson, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Mennonite Friendship Communities, South Hutchinson. She was born June 1, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of William and Mary (Day) Engel.

Theresa graduated from Bishop Hogan High School and St. Margaret’s Hospital School of Nursing, with a degree in nursing. She worked as a R.N. at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital and Hutchinson Hospital until her retirement. Theresa was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Hutchinson.

On October 1, 1955, she married Roland M. Ediger in Hutchinson. He died February 25, 1991.  Theresa is survived by: sons, Michael and wife Yunhi of Lawrence, Bill and wife Tammi, and Tony, all of Hutchinson; daughters, Patricia Butler and Lisa Ediger, both of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Niki Butler, Krissi Butler, Dana Ediger, Allison Ediger, Mary Ediger, Sarah Ediger, Katie Ediger, Andrew Bates, Meghann Bates; seven great-grandchildren; brother, William Engel of Missouri; sister, Rosemary Fahlstrom and husband Larry of Overland Park; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, Jim Engel; and sister-in-law, Linda Engel.

Parish Rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th Ave., Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the church, with Father Michael J. Maybrier officiating. Burial will follow in Buhler Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the church, prior to the Rosary.

PRETTY PRAIRIE, Kan. — Avis I. ‘Dottie’ Morrison, 85, died Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was born August 27, 1931, in Pretty Prairie, to Edward Dwight and Lorene (Schwartz ) Goering.

Avis graduated from Pretty Prairie High School in 1949 and Salt City Business College. She worked for Dillon’s Grocery Stores in Hutchinson. Later, Avis worked as a certified medication aide for 17 years at Prairie Sunset Home, and was a homemaker. Avis was a member of First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie.

On June 1, 1956, she married James I. ‘Jim’ Morrison in Pretty Prairie. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Survivors include: husband, James; sons, Dennis (Diane) of Moundridge and their children, Michelle and Mathew, Dwight (Rosario) of Hutchinson and her children, Jordi Vilahur (Abbie) and Marc Vilahur, Daryl (Penny) of St. Joseph, Missouri and their children, Megan, Jordan (Sarah), Logan, and Tysan; daughter, Denise Welker (Jeff) of Pretty Prairie and their children, Jenny and Jacob; sisters, Arlene Doerksen and Lois Cline, both of South Hutchinson; and brother, Willis Goering of Pretty Prairie. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wilbur Goering.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at First Mennonite Church, 1718 W. Pretty Prairie Road, Pretty Prairie, with Pastor Dave Denlinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson.
