HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Police worked a situation Wednesday evening that turned out to be nothing.

A woman who lives in the area of 15th and Main called a cell phone company upset her cell phone had been shutoff.

She said she had a gun and was threatening someone with it. Police came to investigate and learned she was just intoxicated and making threats. She did not have a gun and no one was threatened, according to police Lt. Jason Yingling.

No arrests were made. Yingling said it caused some excitement for neighbors who wanted to know what was going on.

Man allegedly caught with pound of meth wants evidence suppressed

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A 35-year-old man charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana is now seeking to have all the evidence suppressed.

Christopher Krebbs was arrested after drug enforcement officers surveilled him on Jan. 10, 2018. They followed him to Wichita where he allegedly bought a large quantity of methamphetamine. Once he was back in Reno County, officers performed a traffic stop on K-96 at Worthington Road. They searched the vehicle and found a bundle of methamphetamine in the glove compartment, several burnt marijuana cigarettes, two glass pipes and a Taurus 40-caliber handgun.

Total weight of the meth discovered was around one pound.

Reno County District Judge Trish Rose has scheduled a hearing Thursday to allow both sides to argue the motion.

Request to serve alcohol on campus part of HutchCC board meeting

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees will meet Thursday and discuss a request to serve alcohol on campus for a special event later this summer.

The Cosmosphere is planning a free community event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 mission and moon landing.

The event, “Landing on the Lawn,” will be held in conjunction with the college and the Hutchinson Recreation Commission and is planned to be held on the lawn of the college immediately north of the Cosmosphere building and a portion of Plum Street.

The local museum wants to have a beer garden that would be located in the Crimson Courtyard area of the campus. They say Reflection Mobile Bar Service, LLC — a licensed liquor caterer — has been contacted to serve adult beverages during the event.

This event is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, and college President Carter File is recommending approval to the college board.

The HutchCC Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet Thursday evening at 7 in the Justice Theater of the Shears Technology Center.
