Request to serve alcohol on campus part of HutchCC board meeting

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Community College Board of Trustees will meet Thursday and discuss a request to serve alcohol on campus for a special event later this summer.

The Cosmosphere is planning a free community event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the historic Apollo 11 mission and moon landing.

The event, “Landing on the Lawn,” will be held in conjunction with the college and the Hutchinson Recreation Commission and is planned to be held on the lawn of the college immediately north of the Cosmosphere building and a portion of Plum Street.

The local museum wants to have a beer garden that would be located in the Crimson Courtyard area of the campus. They say Reflection Mobile Bar Service, LLC — a licensed liquor caterer — has been contacted to serve adult beverages during the event.

This event is scheduled for Saturday, July 20, and college President Carter File is recommending approval to the college board.

The HutchCC Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet Thursday evening at 7 in the Justice Theater of the Shears Technology Center.
